Comments: A Signed Card Transpo, includes Gaffed Card. Illustrations by Joseph K Schmidt. Part 3 of a 5 part series (Jack in the Box, Inner Sanctum, The Nyria Effect, Card Under Glass and Cryptology). The introduction reads: "In a trick called "A Curious Problem" in Packet Switches I, pg. 6, four Aces and an 8 change into four 8’s and an Ace. The effect (as I learned of it) stemmed from Haxton and Parrish routines that had appeared in print in 1965-66. As stated, the trick is a transformation; one group cards changes into another. By reducing the number of cards in use, I found that it was possible to combine the transformation with a transposition. That this occurs in the context of a trapped-type effect might make it seem that the trick would require a mathematician to unravel. But in fact the effect is simple and visual. This is the "Nyria Effect" that opens the manuscript. Other odd combinations of the trapped in transposition themes are described in subsequent pages of this manuscript. This includes a short treatise and switching out one card of three. I'd like to thank Fr. Cyprian for contributing an excellent method."
